Co-owner and Sales & Marketing Manager

GLH Team

You couldn’t be in better hands when discussing your new home requirements with Glenn. Having worked in the industry his entire career, Glenn has had a role to play in every aspect of the building process.

Starting his career on the tools as an apprentice, it didn’t take long before his other talents came to the fore. A keen eye and great design skills have taken Glenn from working for building companies to co-owning Glen Loddon Homes.

"Although I started as a builder’s apprentice aged 17, I was in involved in the trade from a much younger age – my dad was a builder and I spent many school holidays and weekends working on projects."

Glenn says he always knew he would go down this track and that his commitment to the industry definitely helps now that he works more on the sales and marketing side of the business.

"It is my role to really understand our clients’ needs and work with them to achieve an excellent result. Gaining the trust of our clients is paramount and one of the most familiar comments we get is ‘finally someone has listened’."

Glenn says it is a balancing game of working with people to incorporate all their needs with advising them of concerns that could affect the end result.

"It is important to come up with the right design that fits the block, the client’s needs and their budget. We are experienced enough to suggest clever and innovative ideas, options to achieve this."

And this time spent early on in the process with the clients, even before they have made a financial commitment, is very important.

"People are different and have individual requirements. We pride ourselves on listening to these requirements to capture their designs and concepts so we can deliver a home that will work for them now and in the future."

Glenn also specialises in helping people with designs that have specific requirements for accessibility or larger families that require zoning in their private and public living spaces.

Glenn says his top tips for people considering building are:

  1. It is important to understand your block of land – how the site falls, its limitations, covenants and bushfire requirements.
  2. Have a clear idea of what you want from your house and how you want it to feel – where do you want the rooms positioned and what size do they need to be?
  3. Be honest with your budget – this way you can work with your builder to design a home that will all come together.
  4. Think about accessibility in your home now and in the future.
  5. Make sure you build with someone who has the experience, a proven track record, someone you can trust and communicate with and is committed to your project.
