Construction Supervisor

Having clients say they enjoyed building with Glen Loddon Homes and that they would do it all again is just the icing on the cake for Darren.

A qualified carpenter with more than 25 years in the building industry, Darren who works alongside Murray Delves as a construction supervisor, is truly focussed on working with his clients to build and complete their new home to the highest standard.

"Right through my career I have worked on domestic homes and it is an area I really enjoy - every house is so different and varied.

"It is a big step for most people when they are building a home and it is great to be involved in the journey. Also, I love the architecture of new homes."

Joining the Glen Loddon Homes team six years ago, Darren says his main reason for choosing the company is the team approach and quality of workmanship.

"Not only do our clients get a quality home, they get a home that is theirs. At Glen Loddon our clients aren’t just a number they are really important to us.

"And from my perspective, I am given the time to do the job right because there is so much support from all areas of the company. This means that I can really concentrate on being a construction supervisor."

Darren, whose role it is to act as the go-between for clients, sub contractors and Glen Loddon, says it is all about open communication and listening to your clients.

"We pride ourselves on good communication and we are definitely not a 9-5 company. We work around our clients’ schedules because it is so important to have them involved in every step of the build.

"It is not about meeting people’s expectations, it is about exceeding people’s expectations."

Darren’s and the team’s experience certainly demonstrates this - Darren has built for one client three times within the six years he has worked for Glen Loddon.

"A lot of people say how easy and stress-free it was to build with us. This is fantastic to hear, especially in an industry where all you ever hear about is other people’s building horror stories."

Darren’s building top tips:

1. Make sure you read the fine print – know what you are signing and exactly what you are paying for.
2. The finish of the fixtures and fittings are important – always choose  a higher quality product.
3. Companies that have in-house joinery teams can quality control their products and have more control over delivery times  - this can help to ensure your build is stress-free.
4. Before you sign with a builder ensure they have demonstrated good communication – from the promptness of response to your first enquiry through to giving your thorough answers to all your questions.
5. Do your research – talk to people who have built with building companies and get a first-hand appraisal of how the company performed.
